2022 Toyota Tundra Engine Powertrain Predictions
An all-new Toyota Tundra is on its way to our plane of existence. There’s an awful lot about this upcoming machine that we still don’t know. However, it’s fun to speculate.
Many visitors to our oasis of Toyota knowledge here at Pohanka Toyota have been asking our highly learned experts about the new model’s powerplant. The previous Toyota Tundra iteration used a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V-8 that churned out 381 horsepower. What engine will power the 2022 Toyota Tundra?
Toyota has revealed that the engine powering the 2022 Toyota Tundra will be known as the iForce MAX powertrain. We still don’t know precisely what the iForce MAX will be, but some have predicted that this engine will be a twin-turbo V-6 that generates over 400 horsepower.
Will the 2022 Toyota Tundra be a hybrid?
Another highly feasibly theory is that the 2022 Toyota Tundra will be a hybrid. An image that Toyota shared of the new model’s engine cover showed three intake runners per side, as well as the word “MAX” written in blue text, suggesting a hybrid setup with a V-6 gas engine that could either be twin-turbocharged or naturally aspirated.
A hybrid Tundra could be pretty fast. Could it be even faster than the Supra?
Will the 2022 Toyota Tundra offer a V-8 engine?
It’s very unlikely that a V-8 engine will be offered for the 2022 Toyota Tundra. Though many individuals still hold a certain obsessive love for the V-8, there’s not much reason to truly want a V-8 anymore if you’re looking at real performance numbers.
