Pohanka Toyota Tech Wins Master Automobile Technician of the Year Award From ASE

 

Frank Gaspar of the Pohanka Toyota of Salisbury Service Department recently received the highly sought after Master Automobile Technician of the Year Award presented by Toyota Motor Corporation and Automotive Service of Excellence (ASE).

This prestigious award highlights what being an expert entails. In Tech News Summer Edition 2018, Tim Zilke, ASE President and CEO says; “It means having a deeper understanding, above average skills, and a dose of creativity, all combining to get the job done at a high level.”

Gaspar was personally nominated for this award and placed first at the nationwide competition in the final round. He is the first service technician at Pohanka to receive this award, setting a standard not yet seen by local technicians.

“It’s incredible,” says Toyota Service Manager, Tom Chilcoate “It’s a huge award for anybody to get.”

Chilcoate is extremely proud of his service team and recognizes their accomplishments. This is one of the only Toyota dealerships, especially on the Eastern Shore, with six master technicians. Gaspar and his peers do more than perform exceptional work on your vehicle, they also serve as mentors for many of the younger techs learning the trade directly out of high school.

Gaspar has worked in the industry for 40 years, 25 being with Toyota. He has been with Pohanka for a little over three years collectively. “The award was recognition and a pat on the back from Toyota and ASE after many years in the business,” said Gaspar.

Pohanka takes great pride in Gaspar and the award’s origin. In 1972, Frank Pohanka himself was crucial in designing and developing the ASE.
